What To Expect At Your First Visit |
||||
Welcome!
We look forward to helping you achieve your health care goals.
To get started:
There will be a minimum amount of paperwork to be completed on or before your first appointment. If you are getting treated for a work-related, or automobile accident, there will be additional forms to fill out asking for information specific to the accident, and the insurance companies involved.
You will be escorted to a treatment room. Your doctor will review your medical history and the history of your current condition. Once the doctor feels he/she has gathered an appropriate History, you will be asked to put on a patient gown.
A complete, regional orthopedic and neurological exam will be performed and postural and palpatory findings will be noted.
Once the History and Exam are complete, your Dr. will explain his/her findings and describe your diagnosis. A treatment plan will be outlined. Most patients receive treatment on their first visit. Some patients may require X-rays or other diagnostic studies before treatment can begin. Occasionally, a patient's problem is best treated by another specialist, and a referral will be made.
Once treatment begins, your Dr. will explain your responsibilities in the healing process. These may include at-home use of ice or heat, therapeutic exercises, ergonomic changes or modification to certain activities until your healing process is well underway.
Follow-up care will be explained, including an estimate of treatment frequency and duration.
Please note:
If you have had X-rays, MRI or CT scans relative to your area of complaint, please bring those to your first appointment, or be prepared to tell the doctor where those studies were done. Please bring your Insurance Card so our staff can confirm your exact chiropractic coverage and co-pay amount.If you are currently taking prescription medication, even if it is unrelated to the complaint that brings you to our office, we ask that you bring a list detailing your medications and dosages.
If you have seen other doctors or received any other care for the area involved, please be prepared to tell us that treating doctor or therapist's name.
